Virginia Foundation for the Humanities

Summer Institutes

Research and Education hosts summer institutes for high school and higher education faculty.  These are supported by NEH, the Commonwealth, and other donors, and offer faculty advanced training in recent scholarship. 

Seminars have included Roots: Teaching the African Dimensions of the History and Culture of the Americas (Through the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade), a seminar on the coming of the Civil War, Southern writers in the 20th century and Beyond Jamestown: Virginia Indians Past and Present.
