Ways to Give

Please explore this web site to see which program you would like to sponsor or support. You can make a gift to any VFH program you feel passionate about or consider giving an unrestricted gift, a donation to the entire VFH -- which means ensuring that we can sustain the programs we bring to Virginia.

Annual Giving

There are many reasons why annual giving is so important to VFH, but two stand out. First, it is largely unrestricted, which means your gift can go directly toward the bottom line for VFH and its programs. Second, annual giving is just that — annual. By making contributions from year to year, friends of VFH provide a consistent stream of support for its programs.

Leadership participation in unrestricted giving is recognized by the Humanities Associates, which recognizes individual donors who contribute $1,000 or more in unrestricted funds in a single fiscal year, July 1 to June 30.

Program Patrons

Leadership participation in restricted giving is recognized by inclusion in the Program Patrons.  These individual donors make gifts of $1000 or more for use by a specific program in a single fiscal year, July 1 to June 30.

Gifts In Kind

An in-kind donation is a contribution of items and/or services in lieu of cash. Examples of in-kind donations VFH needs include:

  • Services from companies, such as printing, shipping, banners, graphic and video design
  • Services from professionals, such as trainers, consultants, designers
  • Event services, such as facility rental, food service, lodging, and audio-visual technology

Endowments

Benefiting VFH in perpetuity, endowment gifts are invested to generate a steady stream of income for programming, fellowships, and other purposes. Donors may also create unrestricted endowments, which produce resources that can be used where the need is greatest. Endowment income is vital to the health and future of VFH's mission. Endowment gifts may be made with cash, appreciated stocks, by bequest or other planned giving vehicles.

Planned Giving

Many people who make use of Planned Giving vehicles find they can give more when they discover the possible benefits of tax savings, asset management, and regular payments to them for life. They also find that gift giving need not mean sacrificing their own or their loved ones' financial security.

In fact, Planned Giving may help you:

Planned gifts should be made in consultation with your financial and legal advisors. Contact Development Director Sheryl B. Hayes for more information.
